I am John Justad the owner of '20/20 Theatrical, LLC'. I have been involved in technical theatre production since 1971 as a junior high student. I went on to earn a degree from Moorhead State University in Moorhead Minnesota in 1981 in theatre. Following college, I formed Theatrical Services and Consultants, Inc., a small theatre supply and service company in Minneapolis selling scenic, lighting and general supplies. We also repaired dimmers, did minor rigging repairs and some minor equipment installs. That company closed in 1988 and I went on to work as a consultant and project manager for rigging and stage lift projects for other companies in the Minneapolis area starting '20/20 Design' in 1990. With '20/20 Design', I went on to do technical instruction classes on various topics, design and theatre production work in schools and then worked as consultant for and Technical Director of the Paramount Theatre in St. Cloud MN from 1999 to 2004. In 1999 I also went back to some actual contracting work with some orchestra pit filler installations and minor rigging jobs for 'SECOA'. I did the work myself with occasional local labor. In 2000, I hired two people to do 20/20's first major rigging install work at Disney California Adventure. We installed 16 'floating' screens in the Animation building courtyard for Stewart Filmscreen. That really got the install contracting started. 'SECOA' and a few other clients have provided a steady stream of work to build '20/20 Design' into '20/20 Theatrical, LLC', with 20 employees working two to five projects at a time all over the country. In 2007, I became ETCP Certified as a Theatrical Rigger to continue learning and practicing our craft. |
